Which AI assistants VisibleMax probes, how key-gating works, and which model powers structural analysis.

Updated 2026-08-06

VisibleMax probes major AI assistants with the same buyer-style prompts so you can see where your brand is mentioned, compared, or skipped. Coverage is key-gated: a provider is only probed when VisibleMax has a configured API key for that platform.

Probe targets

Canonical AI platforms VisibleMax can probe when keys are present.

ChatGPTOpenAILive probe target (key-gated)
ClaudeAnthropicLive probe target (key-gated)
GeminiGoogleLive probe target (key-gated)

Key-gated probing

Each provider requires its own API credential on the VisibleMax side. If a key is missing or temporarily invalid, that platform is skipped gracefully — the rest of the scan continues, and the report shows partial probe results instead of failing the entire run.

  • Unset keys skip that provider without aborting the scan.
  • Provider outages or rate limits on the vendor side can also produce skipped or partial results.
  • Early deployments may run with a subset of keys (for example DeepSeek + Gemini) while other platforms stay ready to light up when keys are added.

Structural analysis model

After the crawl, VisibleMax runs structural visibility analysis on a Gemini model. That step evaluates how clearly your public site explains product, audience, positioning, and trust signals — separate from live assistant probes.

  • Probes ask assistants buyer questions and record mentions, competitors, and citations.
  • Gemini analysis scores and explains recommendability from the crawl corpus only.
  • Both feeds contribute to the AI Visibility Score and findings, but they measure different things.

FAQ

Will every scan hit all six providers?

Only providers with configured, working keys are probed. Missing keys or vendor errors produce skips, not a full scan failure.

Does VisibleMax train on my site content?

No. VisibleMax does not use customer data to train AI models. Crawl and probe data are processed to produce your reports and product features (and may be sent to third-party AI providers solely to deliver those features). We do not claim access to private model weights, and we do not control how third-party AI vendors train their own models. See Data retention and Privacy for what we store.

Why is Gemini both a probe target and the analysis model?

Probing asks Gemini (when keyed) the same buyer prompts as other assistants. Analysis uses a Gemini model separately to structure findings from your crawled HTML. They are different pipeline stages.
